Dr Suryanarayana Sharma P M, Senior Consultant Neurologist and Stroke specialist at Apollo Hospitals, Bannerghatta Road has authored a book on stroke in Kannada. PAARSHVAVAAYUVININDA CHAITANYADEDEGE” is one of the first comprehensive books on stroke in Kannada literature. The book was launched to commemorate World Stroke Day which is observed on 29th of October each year.
The book has 34 chapters ranging from definition of stroke, epidemiology, causes, symptoms, emergency management, advances in the treatment of stroke, special populations like stroke in pregnancy stroke in childhood, etc. have been covered. Additionally, the role of counselling, sexual problems, importance of rehabilitation and the effect of awareness campaigns for stroke has been discussed in detail. Facts and myths about stroke have been highlighted. The book will benefit doctors, paramedical staff, patients, caregivers and general public.
