Gold prices in Chennai have recorded a sharp decline today after fluctuating over the past few days. The price of 22-carat gold jewellery has fallen significantly in the city’s bullion market.
Today, the price of gold per sovereign (8 grams) has decreased by ₹1,120, bringing the rate down to ₹1,18,080. The price per gram of gold has also dropped by ₹140, and it is currently being sold at ₹14,760 per gram.
In the previous trading session, gold was sold at around ₹1,19,200 per sovereign, after a smaller decline of ₹560. The per-gram price stood at ₹14,900.
Silver prices have also shown minor fluctuations in the market. Earlier, silver prices dropped by ₹10 per gram, reaching ₹280 per gram, while bar silver was sold at around ₹2,80,000. In the latest update, silver prices remain steady at around ₹290 per gram, with bar silver priced at about ₹2,90,000.
