Gold prices in Chennai have witnessed a sharp rise today after falling continuously over the past few days. The sudden increase has brought relief to investors and created renewed interest among jewellery buyers tracking daily market movements.
According to the latest market update, the price of 22-carat gold in Chennai has increased by ₹2,160 per sovereign, taking the rate to ₹1,16,000 per sovereign (8 grams). The price per gram has also gone up by ₹270, with gold currently selling at ₹14,500 per gram.
In recent days, gold prices had shown a declining trend. On February 16, one sovereign was priced at ₹1,15,520, which dropped to ₹1,14,560 on February 17 and further to ₹1,13,840 on February 18. Today’s sharp rise marks a strong reversal in the short-term market trend.
Silver prices have also increased alongside gold. The price of silver has risen by ₹10 per gram, with one gram now selling at ₹270, while bar silver is priced at ₹2,70,000.
